What is “Boomerocity”?
Let’s break it down to its components. “Boomer” refers to the Baby Boomer generation (kids born between
the years1946 to 1964). “Ocity” means, “having the quality of”. So, Boomerocity means
having the quality of being a Baby Boomer.
The purpose of Boomerocity is to remind Boomer’s of the lessons learned from the experiences
we had during our youth (from our teens through our college years). Those experiences took place against the backdrop
of the various components of popular culture which included TV, movies, literature, sports and music - especially music.
We're not necessarily endorsing the various messages from those times. We merely recognize that they were the
thoughts and messages during those times.
This site will also include interviews from pop culture contributors and icons of the
60’s and 70’s. These personalities will share their experiences, what they’ve been up to “since
the day”, and their insights into contemporary society.
It's our hope that Boomerocity brings
a smile to your face kinda like . . . well, kinda like the Smiley faces of the 60's and 70's. Speaking of, Boomerocity
is pleased to have Smiley as a part of our team. We use him in between his commercial gigs for Wal-Mart. You will
see his smiling face here very soon!
You'll notice that, just like those crazy Madison Avenue guys, they make
him look younger with make-up. Well, Boomerocity believes in telling it like it is and so does Smiley. So, on
this site and this site only, Smiley will soon appear without hiding the wrinkles around his mouth and eyes nor does he hide
the bags below them. You'll see Smiley as he really is today and only at Boomerocity! We'll let you know when
we're able to show you his picture.
