I Thank You
Week of January 4, 2010

You didn't have to love me like you did but you did, but you did

and I thank you . . .

From I Thank You Sung By ZZ Top

I would like to take a break from my usual weekly ramblings and take this opportunity to thank some people for all that they’ve done to make Boomerocity.com a surprising success by the standards and goals that I set for the site when I launched it back in April.

First, I’d like to thank my wife, Rhonda, for planting the seed of the idea to go to the web when selling my pieces to publications wasn’t getting much traction.  She saw possibilities where I hadn’t.  Thank you, Babe!

I’d also like to thank you, the readers, who have been kind enough to visit the site regularly and to tell others about it. The site started with a handful of friends and family who were kind enough to read what I had to say.  In a few short months, Boomerocity has a global readership that represents just about every continent on this planet.  To say that this is humbling would be an understatement.

And to think that I figured that I would hover around that same beginning point and land MAYBE four celebrity interviews in my first year.

Speaking of celebrity interviews, I would like to thank some folks who helped me secure interviews (both this year and some that will post in 2010), or tried to, as well as the tremendous people that were kind enough to take the time to chat with me.  I know that I have thanked these folks privately at least twice.  However, I believe that it’s worth mentioning again.  Also, if I were to list these people in their order of importance to me, I list the assistants, secretaries, road managers, promotional gurus and agents first (sorry, stars!).

Something else that I would like to point out is something interesting that I learned from the Boomerocity traffic data.  I learned that the interviews with Patricia Kennealy-Morrison and Bebe Buell have, collectively, made up over 35% of the traffic to the interviews currently posted on the site.  This speaks volumes with regards to the demographic shift and the reading interests from the 70’s.

You ROCK you women of ROCK!
