I love Valentine’s
Day. While many argue that it’s a day manufactured for the benefit of the greeting card, florist
and chocolate industries, I am glad it exists so that I can again dote on my lovely and talented first (and only) wife, Rhonda.
As I’ve said in previous pieces, Ms. Rhonda has been in my life in some form or fashion, almost non-stop,
for over 35 years. We’ll celebrate our 30th anniversary this June (and, yes, I’ll
likely write another gushy dedication then, too!).
As the queen of my life and our home, she brings stability and sanity
into my otherwise crazy world. She’s my silent counterbalance to my none stop, ever-ratcheting pie
hole; a little bit country to my lot-a-bit rock and roll. She’s my upper in my down days and reels
me in at the most appropriate times, keeping me from troubles both known and unknown.
Rhonda is one of those
rare gems whose only career goal was to be a wife, mother and homemaker and she excels at being all three. I
can say with virtually no exaggeration that, though I have many, many faults that need worked on, she has made me a much better
person that I would’ve been if she hadn’t been in my life.
My life is incredibly
busy and jam packed full of work and activity, all of which I derive a certain amount of satisfaction and contentment from.
However, my most favorite pass-time is to be with Rhonda. I love taking her wherever she wants to
go and, when at all possible, getting her whatever she wants. Fortunately, she is prudent and always mindful
of our budget. She’s smart and incredibly talented in ways that not only make our house a home but also a refuge from
the storms of life.
Happy Valentine’s, Babe. You Will ALWAYS Be
The One!
Note: I
would like to thank Wild Cherry founder, Rob Parissi, for providing me with the lyrics to this latest song of his, You
Will Always Be The One. You’re too kind, Bro!
